A key component of the Sustainable Urbanism Summit will be several collaborative sessions called Open Source Discussions. Do you have a topic that you are passionate about and would like to discuss with other Summit attendees and speakers? Are you looking for lively discussion or colleagues ready to pursue a cutting-edge project during and after the Summit? The Open Source Discussions use an innovative meeting format to organize collaborative discussion and work sessions. In Open Source sessions, participants create and manage their own agenda of parallel working groups around a central theme or question of strategic importance. On its surface, Open Source is a fast, low-cost and simple way to organize better, more productive meetings. At a deeper level, it enables participants to actively engage in shared leadership and harnesses diversity as a resource in meetings rather than an inconvenience to be overcome. The spontaneous and diverse sessions generated during an Open Source session engage people with a variety of interests and experience levels. Achievements of the Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU) are driven by small groups of enthusiastic people working together to tackle issues and challenges. The Open Source Discussion sessions provide a venue to tap that energy for the ongoing evolution of ideas and initiatives. The Open Source Discussions at the Sustainable Urbanism Summit use a meeting format called “Open Space Technology”. For more information visit: http://www.openspaceworld.org/
